Nestled in the Appalachian mountains of Western North Carolina, SUWS provides a healing haven for at-risk youth struggling with destructive behavior patterns and psychological disorders. SUWS therapists and staff use the wilderness, positive peer culture, and evidenced-based therapeutic methods to challenge the student’s limiting belief systems. Away from the distractions of modern life, students learn new skills, master personal responsibility, and improve their self-esteem. SUWS of the Carolinas also works from a Family Systems approach by advocating for the existence of healthy boundaries and consistent structure within the home environment.
