At Open Sky, we assist teens, young adults and families struggling with difficult challenges and life circumstances. We provide a life-changing opportunity to discover and create a healthy life that is an intelligent and authentic expression of one’s true nature.
There is no better place than in nature to heal, grow and learn. Combined with a community of peers, led by professional guides, therapists, and doctors, our students’ immersion in the wilderness makes for an extraordinary setting in which to gain insight into one’s past, learn about oneself, and find hope and motivation for one’s future.
Open Sky is a comprehensive and clinically sophisticated wilderness therapy program, and is supported by continuous outcome-based research. The Open Sky clinical approach utilizes the latest in evidence-based clinical modalities while incorporating time-honored holistic healing practices, such as yoga and meditation. Our research shows that upon arrival, our students have mental health needs consistent with those who need intensive in-patient support and by the time they finish the program, they emerge into the normal range for well-functioning adolescents.
Open Sky successfully treats male and female adolescents and young adults dealing with a variety of complex mental health issues, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, family problems, substance abuse, grief, oppositional defiance, and social skills deficits.
Each student receives weekly intensive therapy from a licensed clinical therapist who has specialized training in treating the student’s specific issues. The clinical team is comprised of professional, caring, educated, and highly experienced professionals, who have worked in the wilderness therapy treatment field for many years.
The comprehensive programming provided by our Family Services team supports the family systems approach employed by Open Sky. This is the centerpiece of the Open Sky experience and is integral to a student’s success. Families participate in weekly therapeutic phone calls, weekly conference-call support groups, interactive webinar presentations, parent Wellness Weekends, and a field-based family reunion and graduation process at the conclusion of the program. Our customized Family Quest wilderness adventures support and actualize the parallel growth experienced by individual students and their families.
Owned and operated by experienced professionals with over 150 years of collective experience in the field of wilderness treatment, Open Sky is the leading wilderness therapy program for teens, young adults and their families.
